Sulapac has created a range of alternatives to plastic products, replacing plastics with more sustainable materials. These products are designed to be used by brands that are looking to reduce plastic waste and show a commitment to a more sustainable strategy.
How does it work?
Sulapac’s products are made from its own patented biocomposite material, made using wood and natural binding agents, and designed to be recyclable or biodegradable in the natural environment.
Who is doing it?
The biomaterials specialists, Dr. Suvi Haimi and Dr. Laura Tirkkonen-Rajasalo founded Sulapac in 2016 in Helsinki, Finland.
Where to start?
Sulapac can be processed by manufacturers using their existing plastic product machinery, which removes obstacles and costs from the process of switching to plastic alternatives easier. It currently produces packaging for beauty and jewelry brands and has recently developed a renewable and biodegradable straw.
